Focus on Marketing, Public Relations and Branding
Jayson Powers, MBA
Hi. Let me introduce myself. My name is Jayson Powers, I am looking for a part-time or full-time Marketing position. I am experienced and trained in Marketing and Public Relations, making informed choices for my employers while creating value for consumers.
I am also a disabled person, due to a brain stem stroke, thus the gap in my employment. Also, I also rely upon a wheelchair. However, I am blessed that the stroke affected my physical body and not my cognitive skills.
Where I shine
Marketing
Seems easy to the average person. That’s why many small businesses have zero marketing budgets (and many new ventures subsequently fail). And, sadly, some larger businesses either cut marketing budgets in the name of being “non-profit centers” or, worse, spend what money they do have unwisely on unresearched and properly planned campaigns that miss the mark or hurt the brand. New Coke anyone?
Communications and Public Relations
Be clear, be confident. Every company should have a clear communication plan with regular concise, ready-to-drop-in press releases and meaningful communication with local media, I have found success in becoming a source for area media for the goal of having them come to me when they need a source for a story. I have found this relationship free and credible promotion. These relationships can be invaluable when negative stories reach the media as well
Customer Relationship Management
A robust CRM program cannot be undersold. The availability of specialized software has made this almost infinitely customizable. Trends and insights gained produce real results. Most importantly, the relationship forged with the customer provides a real connection, improving efficiency and driving up profitability,
Branding
Branding is not selling a product - one is selling an “experience”. One is painting the picture of what one wants the consumer to be exposed to. As someone who has branded and “unbranded” a hospital - and system of area hospitals - several times, I understand, whether it be a logo, a tagline, signage, billboard, collateral, or something as simple as color palettes, branding is crucial to an effective marketing campaign.
Psalms 119:71
Why hire a disabled person?
A disabled person has not only endured hardships which makes one more resilient to everyday struggles which translated nicely to an effective team member but one that has has to become an “out-of-the-box” thinker through necessity of compensating for one’s handicap.
Additionally, I’ve this down-time has expanded my appreciation for art and music.

My philosophy
Clearly, a business knows their product. But, often, they don’t know the most effective means of developing and comm-unicating unfulfilled needs to a targeted group of potential consumers. Uncovering the needs - and creating wants - of the consumers is crucial to crafting an effective targeting marketing campaign.
Also,
Additionally, supporting this effort - and this is not an exhaustive list - there are consistent PR messages, media contacts, invariable logos and collateral.
